Ellery Milburn is the
bassist, and sings some lead and back up vocals. Ellery has been
the Minister of Music and Senior Adults at Sand Spring Baptist
Church in Lawrenceburg, KY since 1995. He directs and or oversees
eight different groups there at the church, including singing in an
all male group called Men of Joy. Ellery studied voice, keyboard,
music composition, and choral directing at the School of Church
Music at Louisville’s Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has
written several songs for Stringtown, and helps on arranging the
crossover songs.
Ellery’s musical
influences include artists he remembers his dad listening to such as
Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Charlie Pride, and Tennessee Ernie
Ford. He says, “Granny Milburn gave him the love of singing and
playing music”. Remembering back when he was a child playing at her
house. “There was always music around Granny Milburn’s”
Before surrendering to
the ministry, Ellery played bass and keyboards in the bands
Afterhours, Brushfire, Southern Pleasure, and the Ray Kephart Band.
Ellery currently lives in Lawrenceburg with his wife Julie and
daughter Maribeth.
